Privacy Policy — FitTracker
In short: your workout data belongs to you. It is stored on your device and in your own private iCloud account. We have no servers, no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and we cannot see your data. We receive only the feedback or emails you choose to send us.
What FitTracker stores
The workouts, sets, exercises, workout templates, goals, bodyweight entries and body measurements you log, and your progress photos, are stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on for FitTracker, they are also synced to your private iCloud database so they appear on your other devices. That database belongs to your Apple Account; we cannot read it.
While iCloud Sync is on, your settings (such as units, appearance, rest timer, weekly goal, reminders and plate calculator setup) are also kept in your private iCloud account, so they follow you to new devices. Your Apple Health choices and any custom rest sounds stay on each device.
Body measurements, such as waist or body fat, are entered by you. FitTracker doesn't read them from Apple Health or write them to it.
Progress photos
You can take progress photos with the camera or choose them from your photo library. FitTracker asks for camera access only to take a photo, and choosing one uses Apple's photo picker, which gives FitTracker only the photos you pick. Each photo is scaled down and saved inside FitTracker, never in your photo library. Its location and all other metadata are removed; only the date it was taken is kept. Like the rest of your data, photos sync to your private iCloud database when iCloud is on for FitTracker.
Apple Health
Health access is optional and only happens if you allow it. With your permission FitTracker:
- reads your bodyweight from Health, so weighings from scales and other apps show up in FitTracker;
- writes your finished workouts, active energy, distance and the bodyweight entries you log to Health.
FitTracker never stores Health data in iCloud. Weigh-ins read from Health are kept on your device only; each of your devices reads its own from Health. When you log a bodyweight exercise such as pull-ups, the set keeps the bodyweight used to work out its load only if you logged that bodyweight in FitTracker. A weigh-in from Health is not saved with the set: FitTracker looks it up on your device each time. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with anyone. You can change or remove FitTracker's access at any time in the Health app under Sharing › Apps.
Widgets
To keep its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets up to date, FitTracker shares a small summary with them on your device: your weekly goal, the days you worked out recently and your next workout. It stays on your device.
Notifications
Rest timer alerts and goal reminders are scheduled on your device. Nothing about them is sent to us.
Import and export
CSV files you import or export are handled on your device. An exported file goes only where you choose to send it. It includes the bodyweight each bodyweight set was counted at, which can be a weigh-in from Health.
What FitTracker collects
Nothing is sent to us unless you choose to send feedback from the app (see If you send feedback). FitTracker contains no advertising, analytics or third-party tracking code.
Apple
Apple may share aggregated App Store statistics with developers, and crash reports if you have chosen to share them with app developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements. These are covered by Apple's privacy policy and do not identify you to us.
Deleting your data
- Delete individual workouts, entries, measurements or photos in the app.
- Deleting FitTracker removes its data from that device.
- To remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage › FitTracker.
- Data FitTracker wrote to Health stays there until you delete it in the Health app.
- To have feedback you sent from the app deleted, email us (see If you send feedback).
Children
FitTracker is not directed at children under 13. The only personal data it collects is feedback that someone chooses to send.
Who is responsible
FitTracker is published by Roderman, an independent developer based in Canada, who is responsible for this policy and for any personal information it describes. The developer's legal name is shown as the seller on its App Store page.
If you send feedback
Settings › Send Feedback lets you send us an idea, a problem or anything else. It sends:
- your message, and whether you marked it as an idea, a problem or other;
- your email address, only if you type one because you would like a reply;
- the version numbers of FitTracker and iOS, which help us track down problems.
Nothing else from your device or your workouts is included. Apple's iCloud also records when the feedback arrived and an identifier for the iCloud account that sent it. That identifier is unique to FitTracker and does not tell us your name or your Apple Account.
Feedback is saved to FitTracker's public iCloud (CloudKit) database, which is run by Apple. "Public" means it belongs to the app rather than to your own iCloud account: it is set up so that only the developer can read feedback, in Apple's CloudKit Console, and other FitTracker users cannot see it. Apple's servers may be outside your country, including in the United States. Sending feedback needs your device to be signed in to iCloud, even if iCloud Sync is off for FitTracker. If you would rather not use iCloud, you can email us instead.
We use feedback only to fix problems, improve FitTracker and, if you gave an email address, reply to you. We never sell it or use it for marketing, and never add your email address to a mailing list. If we reply, the conversation continues by email, as described below. We delete feedback once we have dealt with it and it is no longer useful for improving FitTracker, and in any case within two years. To have yours deleted sooner, email us at the address at the end of this policy, saying roughly when you sent it and what it said so we can find it. If you are in the EU or UK, we process your feedback because of our legitimate interest in fixing and improving FitTracker, and your email address because you asked us to reply.
If you email us
Apart from feedback sent from the app, the only personal information we can receive is what you send us by email: your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. We use it only to answer you, keep it only as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up, and then delete it. We never sell it or use it for marketing. Email is handled by Google (Gmail), so messages are stored on Google's servers, which may be outside your country, including in the United States. If you are in the EU or UK, we process your email because you asked us to respond to it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing the address below. We reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK, California or Brazil), you may also have the right to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to complain to your data protection authority. In Canada, that is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
FitTracker does not track you across other apps or websites, so it behaves the same whether or not your device sends a "Do Not Track" signal.
Changes to this policy
If FitTracker's handling of data changes, this policy and the App Store privacy details will be updated before that version is released.
